Wellbeing at Work Solutions
For every £1 employers spend on supporting their people’s mental health through early interventions, such as organisation-wide culture change and education, they get nearly £4.70 back on their investment in improved productivity. When employers make talk about mental health “business as usual” people feel safe to be themselves, positively impacting performance.
Wellness Topics
These are example topics that can be tailored to your organisation and delivered in a format that suits your people and business needs. Wellbeing solutions can be delivered to your wider organisation as well as managers.
Wellbeing and Performance
The goal is to have a flourishing workforce and several aspects contribute to people flourishing at work.
Training can be delivered that introduces a range of wellness aspects that impact performance at work and which have a spill-over effect on life outside of work.
Sleep More, Stress Less
Everything’s harder to deal with when we haven’t had enough sleep. But the pressures of work, and life, can make it difficult to get good sleep so the sleep-stress cycle continues.
Research shows that tired managers are less likely to inspire and motivate their teams, and leaders who devalue sleep appear to cause followers to behave less ethically.
This workshop covers the importance of sleep and provides various practical recommendations for getting more better quality sleep.
Mindfulness and Meditation
Just 7-8 minutes of mindfulness can make people more helpful at work.
Studies have shown it results in employees being more generous in the amount of time they give co-workers and enhances empathy and the ability to see another’s perspective.
It’s been found that mindfulness facilitates constructive conflict management through increased collaboration and reduced avoidance. Mindfulness is also known to directly improve creativity and improve insight problem-solving and indirectly affect other aspects like flow.
Emotional Freedom Technique
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) also known as tapping, takes elements of cognitive and exposure therapy and combines them with acupressure. It’s an established technique that’s been extensively studied.
EFT is recognised for having a fast, reliable and prolonged impact on conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD and pain and is shown to reduce levels of the stress hormone, cortisol.
Relatively few sessions are required to see a positive change and it’s a technique employees can continue to use on themselves to destress whenever they need.
Essential Oils for Work
The olfactory nerve in our nose is the only nerve in the body linked directly to the brain. Because of this, natural aromas can have a fast and profound effect on emotions and stress. Using essential oils to positively influence mood is an ancient practise that modern science backs up.
Oils can be used easily and subtly in the workplace and are great tools for employees to support their mental wellbeing.
Managing With Your Monthly Cycle
According to a huge study published in BMJ Open, 81% of women have worked when ill during their period. It’s estimated this presenteeism results in women losing 9 working days annually with an additional 1.3 days lost through related absenteeism.
With 80% of women not disclosing the real reason for their absence, this is clearly still a taboo subject but one that very much impacts work productivity.
This teaches people with cycles practical steps to work with the four distinct phases of their cycle to improve productivity and focus while reducing pain and stress.
When our people have good mental health and feel supported when struggling with poor mental health they feel more motivated, engaged and productive at work.
By addressing stress at work you can expect to see
- fewer arguments within teams
- lower staff turnover
- fewer reports of stress
- less sickness absence
- increased performance
- fewer complaints and grievances
